From Coastal Waste to Bio-Based Resource: The Posidonia Project
Led by the University of Siena, the Posidonia Project introduces a revolutionary circular economy model for the Mediterranean coastlines. Our mission is to transform stranded Posidonia oceanica biomass—currently classified as expensive special waste—into certified, high-value raw materials for cosmetic, nutraceutical, and eco-construction industries.

- Environmental Protection:
Reducing sand erosion and the massive financial/ecological burden currently weighing on coastal municipalities. - Cascade Valorisation:
Extracting high-value molecules (antioxidants, proteins, cellulose) and recycling 100% of the residual fibers into green building prototypes. - Scientific Certification:
A rigorous 36-month multidisciplinary roadmap backed by academic research and comprehensive Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).
